Save Our Trains to Protect Our Winters
Protect Our Winters helps passionate outdoor people protect the places we live and lifestyles we love from climate change.
Some of New Zealand's most loved mountain communities are connected to urban centres by rail lines. Think National Park, Ohakune, Arthur's Pass, Castle Hill, Waiouru, and Stratford. Trains could provide an attractive alternative to driving for people and their equipment to connect with winter sports and recreation, but our existing rail system is infrequent and expensive, and in many places non-existent. Just one train could take hundred's of cars of the road and reduce emissions.
We can help protect our winters for future generations by reinvigorating our train network.
